Respect to All

Respect should be shown all around; no matter the race, color of the skin, religion, job occupations or beliefs.

I am Mexican-American born here, but my background revolves around the Mexican culture, which I love. I'm not big in talking about politics because it just causes commotion, but it was disappointing to heard what a political figure had to say about Hispanics.

All races have good and bad people. There is not such thing as a perfect race, that does not exist. People will talk bad about other races, but not their own. Why? Because we like to think that "our people" are better, only because we belong to that group.

I admit there are Hispanics who are out killing and selling illegal substances, but there's also Hispanics who are hardworking, who want their family to have the best, who are good parents, who send their kids to school and who want their kids to succeed. As well with all other races, they all have imperfections, but why label a race? There is no need for the hurtful words and speeches towards a group of people.

I will be honest, I could careless what that political figure said, because it's untrue. Growing up with a Mexican background has exposed me to be called all sorts of things, but I have learned to ignore the bad because I know who I am and my race doesn't bother me.

Immigrant, sounds like a ugly word, but it's the meaning behind it that should make you keep your head up high. Everyone has at least one immigrant in their family, maybe your parents aren't immigrants but if you go back in your family tree I guarantee you will find somebody. If you are a immigrant you shouldn't feel ashamed or let people use that against you to make you feel bad. You came here to succeed and become someone, so you do you and fight for you.

The main point to all this mouth full that I just spoke of is that we shouldn't bad talk other group of people. Words hurt and more when you point out and throw shit to a certain race. Respect to all is what should be offered to all races. I have friends of all races and I see them for who they are, not for what their race has done in the world. We as young teens and young adults have the power so the future can be better and different.
